Our darkest day. I left the State Journal and I thought Tom was dying.

Our darkest day. I left the State Journal and I thought Tom was dying.

Today we celebrate Tom’s fifth stem cell transplant birthday after a battle with brain cancer. His courage, patience, strength and resilience prevailed during punishing chemo stronger than any dose given to a patient at Carbone Cancer Center. We pride ourselves with supporting him, we are grateful to those who helped us, but we will always know that he was alone with his God when he faced death. And they chose together to keep him with us. He will celebrate today with 18 holes of golf.

Our Florida trip in 2013 gave Tom the change to meet another guy who cheated death. Note that Tom's hair, which was shock white, came back reddish blond.
